Nauvoo - July 2016

After the family reunion at my parents house in Wisconsin (see previous post) we drove down to Nauvoo, Illinois to see church history sites. Steve never had the chance to visit as a child and we thought it would be a fun family stop. We drove down on Thursday and arrived later in the afternoon. It is only 5 hours from my parents house which isn't too bad.

Nauvoo Temple - 3 of my siblings were married here.

Logan loved throwing rocks in the water

Waiting for the pageant
It was super humid if you can't tell by our rosy cheeks.

We stayed the night nearby in a hotel. Friday we spent the whole day in Nauvoo.

First stop was Carthage Jail

Going on the ride with the horses was probably a highlight of the trip for Logan. It was a nice break from walking.

We also went on a short oxen ride.

After going in and out of houses and historical sites all day we drove to DeWitt, Iowa to stay at our friends for the night and start the drive home. Thank you Dan and Polly for letting us stay at your parents place :)

We drove all day Saturday and stayed the night at Steve's uncles house in Aurora, CO. They have a beautiful home built on lots of property and have the best views. We had a lot of fun at this stop....here are just a few pictures

We left early that morning and they made us such a good breakfast. Thank you Dave and Lori.

Sunday we drove all day and got home later that night. It was such a fun trip from start to finish.
