Trip to Utah

A couple weekends ago we made the drive down to Utah for a memorial. A family friend of mine died in a snowboarding accident about a month ago and left behind a wife and 3 young kids. The whole thing is just so, so sad and it breaks my heart for their family. The Orr family was the only other big family in my church branch growing up and they had 10 kids, while our family had 9. Aaron was the 3rd oldest, and though he was 6 years older than I was, I still remember a lot of things about him.

Saturday morning we met with Steve's old childhood friend, Jeff Prause, in Provo. We went out to breakfast and caught up with him. The last time we saw him was at our wedding 3 years ago, so it was nice to see him.

We attended the memorial Saturday afternoon in Cedar Hills. They had a funeral for him back in Wisconsin the week before and since so many family members live in Utah now they decided they would do a memorial there. The memorial was really uplifting and focused on the positive things in Aaron's life. Aaron was such a great guy and will be missed by many. After the memorial we had a chance to visit with family during the luncheon, and even though it wasn't on the best circumstances, it was great to see old friends.

Sami is one of the Orr's cousins and we were good friends growing up too, lots of Girls camp/stake activity memories with this girl! It was a bad hair day for me in this picture, as I forgot all of my hair product back in Oregon, Sami, Gemma, and Logan look cute though :) Oh and Logan did have pants on, but he ended up pulling Steve's bowl of soup off the table all over him and daddy (nice work son) ;)

Logan and Gemma. They were so cute together.

After the memorial and luncheon we went back to our friends place we were staying at in Pleasant Grove. We stayed with the Barney's (Drew, Taylor, Brooklyn). Steve and Drew were roommates in college at BYU-I. Drew and Taylor were one of our really good married friends in Rexburg and it stinks that we live so far away from them now. We knew we wanted to stay with them when we came down for this trip and I'm so glad it worked out. They have a 5 month old daughter, Brooklyn, and she is such a little cutie!

Logan was sure hittin' on the girls this trip!

Taylor made us the best lasagna for dinner and after dinner we drove down to Draper to walk through IKEA. I love IKEA and hadn't been there in a few years so I told Steve we had to go. It was a lot of fun and I probably would have walked out with the whole store if I had the money.

After IKEA we went to the Orr's house in Cedar Hills. It was really nice to hang out with them a little more since I haven't seen many of them in so long. We only stayed an hour or so, but Logan was way overtired and we had a long day already.
Logan and Gemma in their pj's!

Sunday morning we went to church with the Barney's and then made the drive back to Ontario! It was a good weekend! I think I convinced Steve that we need to move to Utah....now we just need to find a job :)

The Barney's and us after church. We sure do miss seeing them!

Thanksgiving in Utah

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break!! Steve and I went down to Utah for Thanksgiving and it was a lot of fun! A lot of his extended family lives down there and his family from Washington ended up coming down as well. The week of Thanksgiving I only had classes on Monday and then Tuesday my teachers cancelled class and Wednesday was the start of the official break for BYUI. Steve and I didn't leave until Wednesday night because he had work. I just worked the majority of the day on Wednesday and a little on Tuesday.

On the way down to Utah Steve and I stopped and got some Buffalo Wild Wings to go! It's one of our favorite places to eat. He got some WILD, I got some MEDIUM, and we shared a HONEY BARBECUE. I was driving and he was getting the wings out of the bag and I had my first one. It tasted a lot hotter than what i was used to with the Medium but I just thought it was because we haven't had them in a while. My mouth was on fire!!! and I drank a ton of water thinking they changed their medium sauce or something. Turns out Steve purposefully gave me the Wild hot wings to see if I would notice a difference. Haha he got me but after I ate some of my medium my mouth was back to satisfaction and not miserably hot.

We got to Sandy where we were staying with Steve's aunt and uncle around 10 pm and just relaxed. Steve's parents were going to get there that night but were running behind and stayed in Boise.

Thanksgiving Day: We slept in a little bit and got ready for the big meal! Steve's family got to the Klingler's around noon along with Grandma Sherrie along with a lot of other family. We ended up having around 30 people at lunch! After 3 turkeys and lots of food to arrive we were ready for our Thanksgiving meal and it was soo good!! Steve Klingler (Steve's uncle and the family we were staying with) did 3 different turkeys for the meal. He put them in brine overnight and the next day did each of them a little bit different. The first one he cooked in the oven and the other 2 in his infrared cooker. He also added a few different things to each one: one was injected with garlic and I don't remember the other 2. They were all so good. One of my favorite parts of the Thanksgiving meal is the stuffing and it was delicious! I'm sure all of you probably ate too much as did I but it only comes once a year! After the meal we went to go see Steve's Grandpa and Grandma Klingler, we visited with them and cousins and it was a lot of fun! Thanksgiving night everyone went to go see a movie at the theaters. It was a Thanksgiving tradition for most of the family. Mostly everyone went and saw Rise of the Guardians but Steve, Clayton, and I went to go see Breaking Dawn Part 2 since we haven't seen it yet. Let me just say I definitely recommend it and you should all see it. At around 10pm we left to go to Park City with all of the girls to go Black Friday shopping. We went to the Tanger outlets and they opened at 10. We went shopping for about 3 hours and I ended up getting a really cute shirt that was $37 off with all the discounts (ended up only being $15).

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving Day! I really didn't take many....I love the pictures of me and little Addison while she was sleeping.

Friday: We woke up had a delicious breakfast which consisted of eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage and then I went out shopping with Brenda and Lonnie my in-laws. We stopped at Kohls which was one of the stores I wanted to go to and Brenda and I waited in line 1 hour and 15 min to check out. It was crazy! I ended up getting all of Steve's presents for Christmas though, some yoga pants, a jacket, and our secret siblings gifts as well! I feel like that trip was pretty successful and well worth it. We ended up all going to Cafe Rio for dinner which was very good! After dinner we headed to SLC to go to Temple Square and see all the Christmas lights up! It was so much fun! After we went to Gateway and got some apple cider/hot cocoa and sat by the fire. I love Christmas time especially all of the lights, music, and Christmas Spirit!
Temple Square Lights :)

Here is a video of Bryson running through the water at Gateway!

Bryson all wet on the left. Steve and I and Clayton in the back (Steve's family has a lot of photobombers haha)

Saturday: Steve's family left around noon :( After they left we went and did some more shopping! We went to Costco because we just got a card a few weeks ago and then went to Scheel's (huge store)!!! Later that night we decided to go ice skating in Cottonwood Heights. It was so much fun! I haven't been ice skating for like 1 1/2 years! I only fell once but it was because this kid cut me off haha :) Here are some pictures from ice skating :)

 Steve was really good!
I was cautious but not too bad :)

Weekend in Utah

Steve and I went down to Utah for General Conference weekend! Steve found out about his mission reunion last minute and we decided to go down. Steve got out of work a little early and we headed down to Provo and let me just say there was a ton of traffic. There was a Provo vs. Utah State game that night and we ended up getting to the reunion an hour late. It was perfect timing though because we got there when the reunion was just starting. It was a good reunion and I got to meet a lot of his old friends but the intros ended up taking 2 hours. After intros we ate dessert and headed to Larry and Fay's to stay for the night (Steve's grandparents).

Saturday morning we got up had a wonderful breakfast and watched conference all day. That night I went with Fay to go to her book signing at the Desert Book in Draper. She has written 8 books and her most recent book is "A Woman's Power." I had so much fun at her book signing and I even won some prizes. My cousin Sydney came at the end and it was a lot of fun to have her there too.

Grandma Fay, Sydney, and I at her book signing

Steve went with Grandpa Klingler to the Priesthood Session and some other family. Afterwards they went to Olive Garden for dinner. After Steve got home we went to a Haunted House in SLC with Drew and Taylor our friends from Rexburg that were in Utah as well. We went to Nightmare on 13th and it was so much fun and actually scary!!

Sunday we watched conference all day and left after the 2nd session. Grandma and Grandpa Klingler did so much for us while we were there. They made us some really good food and spoiled us!! I can't wait for Thanksgiving to go down to Utah again!
