Day 3:
We woke up early this day because we had our excursion to Tulum, Chichen Itza, and a Cenote. We got breakfast and then headed to the lobby to be picked up by our driver for the excursion. After doing some research we decided on doing our excursion through Alma's LDS Tours {best decision ever}!! Alma's LDS Tours does tours around Mexico and they bring in a lot of scriptural/doctrinal knowledge into their tours and they talk about church history pertaining to the location they are in. Our tour guide was Alex, and he was great!
It was about a 45 minute drive to Tulum, our 1st stop!
Tulum was so cool and has a lot of history! There were lots of iguanas roaming around and that made it even more fun!
We then drove 2 hours towards Chichen Itza to go get lunch at a Mexican Hacienda.
The
food was so good! They had the traditional rice and beans and then they
had chef salad, coleslaw, fruit, pork, chicken, and fish. For dessert
they had rice pudding, bread pudding (boudin), and some different
cakes.
Mexican Horchata (he said he likes the American horchata better)
While
we were eating lunch they had dancers perform on the stage right in
front of us. Some of the things they did were balance glasses/bottles on
top of their head, balance books, etc. They were very entertaining!
The grounds of this hacienda were beautiful!!!!!
After lunch, we drove to Chichen Itza which was only 5 minutes away.
This
place has SOO much history! They used to play this brutal ball game in
this stadium and they had to get the ball through the "loops" on the
side.
Lo and behold Chichen Itza, one of the 7 Wonders of the World!! It is massive!
I
wish they would still let people walk up to the top. They stopped
letting people walk up to the top 10 years ago because of injuries of
visitors.
LOVE this place! SO glad we could see it!
One of the largest cenotes (sinkholes) in Mexico
Street vendors by Chichen Itza
We stopped at a couple vendor booths on the way back to the tour bus and bought a few souvenirs.
We then drove over to the Cenote Ik Kil, about an 8 minute drive.
When
we first looked down from the top we thought all of those people were
in line waiting to jump in, but over 1/2 of them were just swimming and
watching others jump in.
We
got the chance to jump in the cenote off of one of the platforms. It
was kind of scary, but really cool at the same time! After jumping in
all you could see were little fish swimming all around you.
This place was so breathtakingly beautiful!!!! Probably one of the coolest places I've ever been!
After jumping in the Cenote we headed back to our resort in Playacar (about a 2 hour drive).
We got back to our resort and ate dinner and just relaxed for the night after a LONG day!
Day 4:
We woke up early, got breakfast and then headed to the beach! It was nice to just grab a fruity drink and relax by the ocean. We both took a nap and then decided we wanted to go parasailing after seeing some others doing it. We thought why not? When else would we be able to. So we were picked up by a jet skier and then brought to the boat for parasailing.
Now, these next pictures are a little blurry because they were taken on Steve's
GoPro. The lens had some water droplets on it and we didn't realize it
until we got back from our trip and looked at our pictures/footage. But
I'm so glad we brought his camera so we could take it in the water and
parasailing.
Parasailing
was such a cool experience! We were SO high at one point and it was
windy that day which made it even more freaky. I felt sick a little bit
at one point, but the pictures really made it worth it!
Swimming with fish, there were so many surrounding us!
We love Mexico!!
The rest of the day we just hung out at the beach, hung out in the pools around the resort, and went on another bike ride.
Continued on Part 3
The place you went swimming looks awesome! Not to mention the parasailing! Awesome!
