Life Lately

Life has been a little crazy lately, hence all these late blog posts that actually happened a week or more ago! Logan is now 11 months old (see blog post) and will be 1 at the end of the month! I can't believe it! Time seriously went by so fast and he's changing so much. I catch myself looking at his baby pictures more often than not and it's so sad that he's not this tiny little baby anymore. I love who he is now, but I miss those newborn snuggles...I guess that's why you have more than one child (no I'm not pregnant or am not planning on it for a while haha).

Steve is still working at JP Ventures, LLC (Incubatorwarehouse.com) and is doing their marketing mainly, but helps out with shipping, emails, customer service, etc. since they are such a small company. He has been working there since January 2014. He works 8-5 Monday-Thursday and 8-3 on Fridays, but occasionally will stay later to work on projects. He bikes to work when I don't have work that day or when I don't have to be at work til 6 pm or later. It is about a 10 mile bike ride round trip. When he comes home from work he will usually help with dinner or feed Logan. If I don't have work that day we will hang out as a family the rest of the night. If I do have work he takes the role of the "mom" and feeds logan, gives him a bath, reads him books, feeds him a bottle, and puts him to bed. He then has some alone time/free time til I get home. He has taken on this role as a dad so well and I'm very grateful for him. It makes it that much easier knowing that Logan is going to be ok when I leave for work. Since I have been working Logan and Steve have created such a strong bond with each other. When "dad" gets home Logan crawls to him right away and is very clingy. If I try and pull him away he cries until he is back in his arms. He loves his daddy! In his free time Steve likes to fish and go skateboarding.

Outside of work and "home time," Steve is the Young Men's 1st Counselor in our church and loves it!! He is good friends with the Young Men's President and there is such a great group of young men. He is also still Ward Missionary as well and when he has time he goes out with the missionaries to appointments.

Me (Kelly) am doing a little bit of everything and I'm perfectly fine with it. First I am a mom and that is my #1 priority (besides caring for my husband). I love being a stay-at-home mom during the day and love that alone time I have with Logan. I learn so much from him and can't wait to watch him grow. A little bit into my life as a mom includes: laundry, dishes, dishes, dishes, tidying up rooms, fixing meals for Logan, fixing meals for myself, bottle feeding Logan 2-3 times a day, and a mixture of other things as well.

I make sure to take at least a little time for myself each day whether it is painting my nails, writing blog posts, doing my hair, taking a shower, going on a run before Steve leaves for work (I am starting to train to run a 1/2 marathon), a nap, etc. that way I am happy and I can have a good attitude with Logan. A stressed out mom isn't fun so I've learned sometimes I just need a little "me time". Usually I'll take my "me time" when Logan is taking a nap, but if it doesn't work out I have him play in his crib.

Cooking is probably my biggest stress reliever! I love cooking/baking and that is the reason behind why my kitchen is hardly ever clean haha (or at least not for very long). What gives me satisfaction is having a nice, home cooked meal on the table, which explains our high grocery bill every month, but I'd rather have a home cooked meal and know what's in it versus having a meal out of the box/take out. I love involving Logan in cooking/baking with me and it will be that much more fun when he is old enough to help out more.

Most of you that read my blog know that I have a small etsy shop where I sell wreaths. This is something that started within the last year and has kept me more than busy. It didn't start out with much business, but overtime I have accumulated a lot of views which turned into sales. In the past 3 1/2 months I have made 59 wreaths! I never thought I would have over 70 sales just after less than 6 months. You might be wondering what made me open an etsy shop and sell wreaths, but one night while nursing Logan I was trying to think of something I could do at home to make a little extra money and wreaths popped in my head....so I went with it. It has been fun and stressful at the same time. I am finally caught up on all of my orders for the first time in a while and it is nice to just relax a little bit. I am now looking into new ideas for wreaths so if you have any you find, send them my way!

Aside from being a mom and doing my wreaths, I work at Home Depot in town approx. 20 hours a week. We only live 7 minutes away from Home Depot. I only work 5:30 pm or later M-F and Saturdays my availability is open (since Steve is home to watch Logan). I do not work Sundays. I was hired as a Cashier in the middle of March and enjoyed it......In May I was approached by one of the Assistant Managers and she told me I should apply for the Head Cashier or Special Service Desk Position. She said a lot of management has been impressed with me and they think I would be a good fit for either position. I originally thought I wanted to apply for the Head Cashier position, but then quickly changed my mind the next day and said I wanted the Special Service Desk Position. I was interviewed and shortly received notice that I got the position, which included a small pay increase (bonus)! I have been up at the Service Desk for a little over a month now and I enjoy it! It's a little stressful at times, but I enjoy the people I work with and some of the customers make my job worth it! Since I work 5:30 pm or later on weekdays it's not as crazy as someone working during the day, but I release orders, create orders, process credit card applications, file paperwork, make calls to customers to pick up their orders, do verification checks (make sure orders are where they say they are), return items, check-out items, and other random duties. I plan on working at Home Depot as long as I can handle it! So far they have been really flexible with my schedule and if I ask off soon enough I can get off for days that I request. You may be wondering why I started working in the first place since Steve has a full-time job and I do my etsy business at home, but really I did it so we could be putting a little more in savings every month....along with that it is nice to have a little socialization outside of being at home. So on the 11th of this month I will have been working there for 4 months!

Outside of work and being a mom, I'm a Young Women's Advisor at church and teach a lesson 3rd hour every 4th week! I love being with the Young Women and going to their activities!

Well that is more than enough about us at the moment! All about Logan on this post!
