End of July/August 2016

The day after we got back from our trip (July 25th) to Wisconsin I was leaving work and my car was hit. I was leaving the parking lot and a lady leaving Dollar Tree didn't look to her right and hit me. I had the right of way and she admitted fault thankfully. I was unable to get out of my drivers door and had to crawl over to the passengers side to get out. Thankfully she was not going faster than she was (5-10 mph) and I didn't have anyone else in the car with me. We notified insurance the next day and started the claim process. This was my first accident so I was pretty clueless as to what to do.
The driver gave me her insurance card and we later found out that her insurance was not valid at the time and we did not have uninsured motorist coverage. The driver was willing to pay our deductible and our rental car fees to make up for not having valid insurance so we didn't get the courts involved. The claims process was so drawn out......at first they told us our car could be repaired and the process would be started soon and then they told us it was totaled and kept on going back and forth. In the end our car was deemed a total loss because the estimate for damages was more than 60% of the value of the car. We immediately started looking for a new car and received our check for our old car.

The frame of the car ended up being bent which caused it to be totaled.

Here is our new car we picked out. A 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Those who know us know we have only ever owned Hyundai's. The streak is continuing in our family.

Near the beginning of July we were told from our landlord that the house we had been living in was finally sold and the closing date would be August 1st. We were shocked to say the least, especially since we had been waiting to hear back from graduate schools to start school in mid September and we didn't want to have to move somewhere for only a month. Well after several stressful days of looking for a place we found something and only had a few days to get all of our things packed up after we got home from our big trip.

Near the end of July we found out that Steve had been accepted into the MBA program at Oregon State University. We moved to a house in Payette on August 1st and actually loved the place. It was big, had a garage, and was in a nicer neighborhood. We were actually sad that it was only temporary and that we would be moving in a little over a month to Corvallis.

Near the middle of August we drove over to Corvallis to check out the area and look for housing. We have some friends that live near Portland that let us stay the night at their home so we could look around. We found housing within the first day of being there and signed a contract. We were pretty impressed with the area and were excited to move in a month.

Up in Washington our newest nephew was just born on August 5th and we used that as an excuse to drive up to meet him. The trip did not disappoint. Steve's parents took us up to the cabin that weekend and we had a lot of fun. We also watched several of Steve's family members jump out of an airplane and skydive.

Waiting for Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt Koda and Great-Aunt Shannon to jump out of the plane!

The rest of August was full of time spent outside! We love summers in Eastern Oregon.

One of my CPS co-workers had a birthday party and invited us to a friends "beach house." We had tons of fun on the trampoline on the water, the rope swing, etc.
