Moving Time

Steve and I have been living in this cute little house in Ontario, OR since we graduated from college in December. My brother-in-laws brother and his family moved to Utah because of a new job and had an empty house they were trying to sell.....so they said we could rent it out until someone decided to buy it.

Here is the house :)

Steve and I had no idea how long we would be in this house so we never really unpacked all of our boxes. There were showings on the house every so often and we would help the owners out with cleaning and such to accommodate those, but there was really no official offer on the house until mid-May. Once I found out they accepted an offer on the house I cried.....I was so upset that day because I didn't want to move out of the house. We have loved paying cheap rent, we love the quiet/nice subdivision we live in, and baby Boyd is coming end of July so we didn't want to have to move to a smaller place right before he came.

After a few days of setting in that we were actually being "kicked out," because new owners are moving in June 30th, I started apt/townhouse searching in the area of Ontario. We would love to move into Idaho (cheaper car insurance, nicer city, etc.), but I really don't want to have to switch mine/baby's health insurance right before the baby comes. We were really hoping to find another house to rent (not being sold) so we would have our privacy with our new baby. We also have been spoiled living in a house and don't want to go back to renting an apt. or townhouse. We found a townhouse after a few days of looking but thought we would wait on turning in any application until we knew for sure we couldn't find anything cheaper.

Rental houses were much harder to find than I thought and no one was posting anything on Craigslist. We thought we would wait around and maybe drive around neighborhoods looking for signs that someone wanted to rent their house but we didn't even have to do that.....last Thursday at work my co-worker asked me if I was still looking for a place to rent. She said the lady that lives next to her mom is retiring and moving to Montana. Her house is for sale but would be willing to rent it out and take her house off the market, if she found the right person. She suggested that we live there because we were looking for a house to rent and she would only be asking a little bit for rent. Steve and I went and checked out the house that night and fell in love with it. It is nothing special from the outside, it's an older house (1947), but the inside is updated a lot and the woman who has been living there has put a lot of money into fixing it up. The owner put in a new kitchen about a year ago and it is probably my favorite room.

The house is two stories with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen, and living room on the main floor and a vaulted ceiling, open storage room on the 2nd floor. There is a small "basement like" room under the house that can be used as an extra pantry and has a washer and dryer down there which she is letting us use (I am most excited about this part)!!! It'll be nice to do our laundry at home and not at my brother's place in Boise. The owner has also kept her backyard very nice and has a garden with berries, nice landscaping, a couple of storage sheds, and a small fountain. She's going to leave her lawn mower for us which will be nice so we don't have to buy one.

I'm seriously so excited about moving into this new house. The house is in a really quiet neighborhood, a little closer to Steve's work, and within our budget for everything. It will be nice for us with a new baby and everything. And we won't have to worry about it being sold because we'll be permanent renters for a couple of years. We will have 10 days to move our stuff between houses and we will be settled in by the end of this month. It'll will give us about a month before the baby comes to get everything ready.
